BACS Decree: Are you affected?

The BACS Decree (Buildings with Automated Control and Monitoring) regulates the energy consumption of tertiary buildings in France. Its objective is to encourage the installation of automatic control and monitoring systems to reduce energy expenditure and contribute to the ecological transition. Who is subject to the BACS Decree?

To determine whether the BACS Decree applies, landlords and tenants of tertiary buildings (offices, shopping centers, hotels, etc.) must evaluate the classification of their building according to the criteria defined by the decree. This concerns all tertiary buildings equipped with heating-air conditioning systems of more than 290 kW and, for new buildings, from 70 kW from April 2024.
