Enerlis is piloting a unique green hydrogen project for the social landlord Pays d’Aix Habitat
December 8, 2023
Enerlis, a global energy transition operator, is taking the lead in an innovative energy efficiency project for the social landlord Pays d'Aix Habitat. This innovative project integrates a green hydrogen hybrid boiler and photovoltaic panels in the energy rehabilitation of a 60-unit residence in Aix-les-Milles, marking a first in France for the residential sector.
An innovative concept of resilient heating
At the heart of this innovative solution is the hybridization of a gas condensing boiler with an electrolyser designed by Bulane and De Dietrich . This hybrid boiler is connected to a mini photovoltaic panel plant, using solar energy and condensation water to generate green hydrogen. The hydrogen thus produced is mixed in real time with green/gray gas and burned in the boiler to heat homes. This instant process requires no pressure or hydrogen storage.
Jean-François Hélie, CEO of Pays d'Aix Habitat, underlines the importance of this achievement: “This is a first in residential in general and in social housing in particular. The completion of this pilot project leads us to consider energy diversification in a more concrete way, within the framework of the imperatives of residential decarbonization. »
Defossilize the use of a gas boiler without Impact on Infrastructure
Aurélie Gaudillere, President of Enerlis, explains: “ The implementation of this energy optimization project, combining the hybridization of a gas boiler room with hydrogen and photovoltaic panels, allows us to “defossilize” the use of gas boilers without altering the building infrastructure. This is in line with our energy renovations, designed from the angle of innovation but without major disruption: we remain on concrete and achievable projects with equal comfort for the user, and savings to boot. »
She underlines that the challenge for energy efficiency in residential areas lies in the ability to build, on a building scale, “smart grid” systems combining different energies at the best time. The overall project includes the use of solar thermal with a heat pump for hot water, as well as the integration of photovoltaic panels with a hydrogen-hybridized gas boiler for heating homes and common areas.
Inaugural visit to the works on December 8, 2023
To make this great project a reality, an inaugural visit to the Mistral 1 energy rehabilitation work is planned for this Friday, December 8, 2023, in Marseille.
Enerlis is thus positioned as a leader in the development of innovative solutions, actively contributing to the energy transition and the search for new sustainable practices in the residential sector. This innovative project demonstrates the company's ability to rethink the use of energy while respecting the needs and comfort of users .
