- Enerlis was supported in carrying out its carbon footprint on scopes 1, 2 and 3 and takes 2020 as a reference year; a year marked by strong growth despite Covid;
- The company is aligning with a Science Based Targets certified emissions reduction trajectory to limit the increase in global temperature to 1.5°C;
- The company is joining the Global Compact's Climate Ambition Accelerator to quickly set ambitious reduction targets aligned with carbon neutrality by 2050 at the latest.
In order to strengthen its commitment against global warming, Enerlis had its complete carbon footprint carried out for the first time to take concrete action and limit its identified emissions.
Update on Enerlis’ carbon footprint
The first complete assessment allowed us to distinguish our main sources of emissions. By adding up all the emissions, Enerlis has a footprint of 7,436t of CO2 (i.e. 50t/employee). The main sources of emissions are purchases of services and purchases of products.
Enerlis' commitment to an ambitious reduction trajectory
Thanks to this assessment, Enerlis joined the Science Based Targets initiative and set a Net Zero trajectory for reducing emissions. We will therefore put in place an action plan which will allow us to refine our carbon footprint and meet the Paris objectives which aim to limit global warming to 1.5°C compared to the pre-industrial period. In this way, Enerlis is also part of the United Nations' Business Ambition for 1.5°C initiative, which currently brings together more than 1,300 committed companies.
The next steps
In the coming months, with the help of the Global Compact, Enerlis will set targets for reducing GHG emissions accompanied by an action plan, which will notably involve:
- Engage our partners (89% of our emissions relate to purchases of services and purchases of products – scope 3) to clarify their own impact and encourage them to reduce it;
- Refine the measurement of the impact of installed equipment;
- Renew the vehicle fleet with electric and/or light models;
- Reduce air and car travel by developing mobility solutions for daily journeys.
Raising awareness among Enerlis employees
Faced with growing energy needs – two billion additional inhabitants over the next 25 years – and the urgent need to preserve our planet's resources, it is essential to raise awareness of climate change among as many people as possible. Enerlis works daily to train its employees on climate issues and challenges, particularly through fun workshops such as the Climate Fresco.
Supporting our customers even further in their energy transition
Since 2013, Enerlis has been committed to promoting energy efficiency and meeting the challenge of the energy transition. We therefore offer our customers a combination of energy efficiency solutions. To go further, Enerlis integrates the implementation of renewable energies into its projects as well as sustainable mobility solutions, around charging stations or low-carbon hydrogen solutions. More recently, Enerlis has just launched the consulting firm Act4Transition. A4T's objective: to support its clients in their transition to sustainable growth, by helping them define and implement their decarbonization strategy.
